So yesterday Barmeys opened their new shoe floor- an opulent fith level of lovelyness full of nothing but top notch footwear for style savvy Lads and Lasses.

Trendwatch- Metallics

SO we all know about the rain and all that jazz, a months fall in two days, hailstones of an apocalyptic nature, and tornados in the east midlands non-place that is Hinkley, but at least- even if the sun isn't shining- metallics have been shimmering down the catwalks in Fall '12 coture collections in Paris.

"As if lifted from a palace along the banks of the Bosporus, Ottoman motifs subtly infuse the collection with imperial splendour,"
All that glitters...Elie Saab Fall 2012 in Paris Wed 4th July
Elie Saab paraded a bevvy of Byzantine beauties adorned in shimmering gold in Paris this Wednesday (4th July 2012). Perhaps its the recession and constant tightening of our belts that's meant the forthcoming season is leaning to more opulent fabrics and finishes, but you'll be glad to know that the incoming styles from some of our favourite brands here at Tinfish haven't neglected the metallic trend either.

When buying from Fly London for Autumn 2012 we absolutely fell in love with this suede ankle boot, on a practical wedge heel with contrasting suede and burnished metallic leather panels.
With a strong colour palette of teal, burnished gold and inky black these wedge heeled boots are bound to be a real show-stopping addition- with an easy to wear wedge heel, we're tipping these gorgeous slip-on ankle boots for the top next season.

More to look out for:
We've also got some fabulous vintage-inspired metallic heels from Miss L Fire, killer shimmering heels from new brand Ruby Rocks as well as some outrageous shiny numbers from Irregular Choice heading our way- in terms of trending looks like all that glitters really will be wardrobe gold next season.

A.O.B

We're excited to announce that the first of our Camper collection for Autumn Winter 2012 has arrived in store! Following their first leg victory in the Volvo Ocean race alt week (the Camper team pipped team PUMA into port at Galway on Tuesday...read all about it here) Camper look set for a triumphant season in store- with the welcome return of their Wabi slipper in a range of colours for this season....we can't help but wonder if Chris Nicholson and the rest of his team donned pairs after arriving into port?

Freak Weather Wimbledon

Well, well, well, what a damp squib of a Summer we've been having! What was once the default small talk du jour of polite society has of ate become a legitimate talking point across the spectrum- we mean of course the weather. In a week where the met office has forecast a months rain in just 48 hours, we've been left with not only a broccoli crisis; but also something of a conundrum when it comes to what you ought to have on your feet.

You might well be wondering what on earth to wear on your feet (aside from going about barefoot and hoping for accelerated Darwinism to leave you emerging webbed by the weekend....anyway we digress) since, despite the weather this season seems packed with events that are both inside and out. We've a had a little look at some weird and wonderful solutions to avoiding wet pinkies across the Summer (whilst remaining presentable of course).

Creep home and dry.
Why not glide through puddles in this seasons conveniently-on-trend Brothel Creeper? The added height might help you to stay above the groundwater- allowing you safe passage along marginally flooded pavement (don't forget to protect the suede though!) Here at Tinfish we've got four great colourways in these creepers by Bronx that you can choose from, cute with skater skirts or skinny jeans- they're just perfect in anticipation of the inevitable preppy looks that will be sneaking out for the 'back to school' season this fall.

Although the creeper look does lend itself nicely to a mannish look- if you're after something a wee bit more feminine, you might want to try these Lilac versions, a nice pastel twist on a retro classic.

Slightly form over function our heads were turned by the Lazy Oaf and Jeffrey Campbell creeper selection, these sky scraping heels would even pass as an onto the ark shoe for Noah, their 'Trotter'style will allow you to do just that, despite the rising tides. To browse their blog on this, click here.

Under Canvas?
If you haven't been deterred by the experience of festival goers at the Isle of Wight last week and are wondering how you'll survive the festival season without spending your weekend with your feet encased in a pair of Dunlops, why not take a peek at our selection of Crocs? No longer just an array of khaki coloured clogs for happy campers, this seasons selection of Crocs have blended style with classic Crocs practicality.
Our run away winner has been without a doubt the crocband flat shoe, available in red and navy blue, with elastic inserts for a fantastic fit and a cute mid-sole stripe that gives these cheeky nautical shoes a great sporty fit. A lovely shoe for camping- and beach holidays you can kick these on and off whenever you need.

Something for the fellas
If you're after something to hop into this summer why not take a look at our selection of Superga? Now, granted these are a canvas shoe, but unlike Converse they've got a tougher upper and a great vulcanized rubber sole, making them a good choice for light showers. This classic styling goes well with a range of outfits- and in classic shades like dark bordo and ultramarine- can easily pass for a smart casual shoe.

Our Windows Look Fly

The good folks at Fly London have asked all their independent retailers to have a crack at pimping their windows with truly 'fly' Fly London displays. We've decided to give you guys a sneaky peek at our work so far:

FACE IT
Don't forget to like the pics of our window at the Fly London facebook page- where you can keep up to date with the latest news from the brand of universal youth fashion culture. In line with their hardy urban look, we've gone for simple black and white window graphics that will really let their show-stopping collection stand out.

FLY WHO?
This being the case it seemed a good idea to jot down a quick blog on our most successful brand. So, who are they? Good question. Fly London launched all the way back in 1994, and like our evolutionary themed promo-pics, they've stuck to their ideal of 'ever-changing, ever-developing'. This has stood them in great stead, making Fly London shoes not only a bold style statement, but a great way of keeping your feet comfortable all year round.

FLY HERE
From a small original collection, the Fly collection has since grown to an astonishing number of styles, colourways and finishes. In fact, the biggest challenge we've faced here at Tinfish is narrowing down our selections from the Fly London collection each season- and Autumn / Winter 2012 was no exception- we're expecting the first of our fabulous styles from Fly London to start filtering through in the next few weeks- so keep an eye out here, or on our Tinfish Facebook page for updates on our newest styles in store and online.

PUTTING A SPRING IN YOUR STEP
Meanwhile, in our current collection, styles have been zooming off the shelves-  not least, we imagine due to the fact that Fly London shoes do make jolly good cross-seasonal options; a god thing when the sun is lurching from having his hat firmly on to throwing it out of the proverbial pram completely.

ONE clear winner (as per usual), has been the Fly Yakin shoes- this year we've got ours in a mix of metallic, rug and nubuck leathers. Have a little peep at them here.

For the fellas we've got a great smart-casual option in the form of the Fly London Fuzzy boots- a twist on the classic Chukka styles that have had a real renaissance in past years. Available in Blue Denim or mint green suede. Go on, have a peek.

FLAGSHOP
Pardon the pun, but we're excited to see that the good old folks at Fly London have expanded into their own store. Mainly found in independent stores, Fly London has recently experience fantastic success with their Covent Garden store. The first of its kind in the UK!

BAGS OF STYLE
And its not only shoes that these edgy folks have been making. Here at Tinfish we've got a streamlined selection of classic Fly London bags. Classics like Fly Mote a fantastic messenger bag in soft rug leather and suede- available this season in blue and black. Riding high o the wave of popularity splashing all over geek chic, Fly have produced a lovely satchel in their Annie style- available at Tinfish in Dark Brown and Blue leathers. A mini rich leather satchel with front pocket and mag-dot fastening that makes a fabulous wardrobe investment- great for day-tripping and day-to-night events.

LIKE MONDAYS
Also in the satchel department, Fly London have produced the ultimate man-bag. The Al cross body bag in tan leather with buckle fastening and a whole heap of internal compartment will make your days as a Boomtown rat a thing of the past.

They will see us waving from such great heights

If the postal service are to be believed the subject of this Fridays late blog is pretty apt. (if you haven't hear the song we're waffling a about, do! Here's a link to the official video. That's right folks we're getting excited about heels.
Not the WAG-ish, trailer-trash type of death defying heels -  the ones that add height whilst violating health and safety guidelines wither you wonder. No, this week we're looking at some of the most exciting new works in footwear design.
Whilst at GDS this Spring we got all excited meeting Mr Julian Hakes. Doesn't sound like much of a shoe man to me, I hear you cry! And you'd be right, he's an architect by trade which explains the clear architectural bent in his latest show-stopping series of shoes. Inspired by a simple curl of lime peel at the bottom of his mojito. To find out how to make a great one, have a peep at the this recipe (zingy!) We purchased several colours from J Hakes Mojito range- these will be arriving in store this month! Jolly exciting indeed.
Speaking of brand new talent- we were thrilled to learn that ex-Tinfish employee Kimberly North had great success with her bionic degree show collection- not only selected for graduate fashion week, but! Also featured online at the upcoming. Spot Miss North here.

Right then all, have a lovely weekend, rain or shine( well, rain or torrential rain or drizzle, should we say)

Tinfish x.

The pitter patter of tiny feet.

We at Tinfish aren't sure why, but some things just look better in miniature!
Crocs Chameleons Blue and raspberry before
The same shoe after a good dose of sun!
It may just be a case of small things amusing small minds, but we'd defy anyone not to find our selection of kids shoes simply adorable. As a stockist of Kids Crocs for a while, we've decided to add a slash more fun to our usual collection by adding Croc Chameleons into the mix! These are lovely Crocs clogs- but with a twist! These great shoes change colour in bright sunlight- what better way to keep your little one in their shoes when the sun has got his hat on?!

Allo' Allo' Allo' What's Goin' on 'ere then?
All these cute small things put us in mind of Slinkachu, and internationally renowned street artist who specialises in the smallest of touches. His 'Little People in The City' project has been adorning the streets with tiny figures at work and play in the unlikeliest of places. He's been placing these microscopic installations on the streets of London since 2006, and has even released a book of his whimsical pieces- Yet more proof that the best things come in small packages! Check out his blog here: http://little-people.blogspot.co.uk/

Join the one for one movement.
And its not only the best footwear that comes in miniature- as our TOMS collection proves, great intentions come in little boxes too! Just like their hit espadrilles for grown-ups, each pair of Kids Tiny and Youth TOMS comes with the one for one guarantee- meaning for each pair of shoes you buy for the little feet you love puts a pair on the feet of a child that really needs them. Our selection this season includes a range of colours in classic Toms Canvas espadrilles- in youth as well as Tiny sizing. We've introduced two new styles- pink glitters, for little ladies who like to sparkle- and TOMS Tiny Botas, in black canvas and natural hessian finishes. These ankle boots offer even better support for those taking their first steps.

In terms of putting your best feet forward- what could be better than a pair of junior FitFlop? Those clever folks have applied their gate-correctional technology to the classic adult FitFlop to create some great styles to keep kids walking tall all Summer long. We've got the gorgeous printed liberty gogh and the Gemma sandal in very berry - two cute sandals form the good people at Fit Flop shoes.

Have a peep at our full selection of kids shoes here.

Ding Dong- wedding shoes for the best dressed guest

Ding Dong!
Seems like all us Fishettes have been invited to an endless stream of nuptials at the present time- an all day leviathan of meeting, greeting, eating and drinking- not to mention cutting the inevitable rug on the dance floor!
So, for our newest bout of seasonal favourites, we'll be focusing on show-stopping, bouquet grabbing and dance-floor scorching, shoes and sandals to get you through the wedding season with aplomb whether you'll be chasing an eligible bachelor, your little ones or your new Mr. around for the day.
The Rural Wedding
Irregular Choice Patty: these charming chintzy fabric court shoes by Irregular Choice are a real must-have for a lazy hazy country wedding. In blue spotty fabric or floral print, these slip on courts are a really flattering foot shape. With a range of soft pastels at work in the shoe, they'll make a great partner to a range of different fabric and finishes- lovely with a full-skirt that echoes 1950s chic!
The City Bash
Think slick and chic, a pencil dress perhaps or a maxi in neutral tones that taps into the sports chic and clean lines in fashion at the moment. Why not try a pair of Camper Laura, available in three lovely colourways- or if you'll be on your feet all day, loose none of the height you're after and gain bags of urban cool by opting for the Fly London Parol sandal; a rug leather sandal available in Smog or Dark Brown.
The Overseas Knees-Up
For a wedding in the sun, we've included a flat and a heeled shoe in our selection. If you're keeping it flat, but want a hint of glamour why not try Irregular Choice ‘Quack Quack’ a lovely beaded sandal that’s opulent without the effort of a high heel. For a sandal with some height and a whole heap of attitude, look no further than Blowfish Ricky and Blowfish Tulsa. Both of these wedge heeled sandals would look fantastic with a maxi dress, a perfect combination for a wedding celebration in the Sunshine.
The Vintage Gathering
Looks of yester-year are bang on trend right now, and that includes weddings - just look at K-Mid's Grace-Kelly echoing wedding gown of last year. So if you want to look back for a new look this wedding season, try Miss L Fire Gabriella- available in striking Red, beautiful Blue and rich Green. These bejeweled ankle strap shoes on an easy to wear mid-heel are a real feast for the eyes.
